Programs Development Manager (For Qatari Candidates Only)

Job Purpose

To direct and manage business operations derived from developing executive education and professional programs to improve HBKU's sustainability and market position.

Key Result Areas

  • Assist the Executive Director in planning, setting, and reviewing the Executive Education Center's (EEC) business strategy, and cascade strategic goals into operational targets
  • Develop sales strategy to target key audiences/customers in the local market
  • Lead the programs’ design process with interdisciplinary nature through deep comprehension of client needs and EEC's internal & external capabilities
  • Develop and maintain an open and strong communication channel with high-level stakeholders and clients to ensure smooth operations
  • Develop EEC's value selling propositions and differentiating factors from the competition
  • Develop business proposals in response to RFP's that address the needs of client organizations while meeting the commercial and strategic objectives of HBKU & EEC
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels to increase sales. 
  • Present management with new business trends with a view of Programs development
  • Monitoring the Higher/Executive Education international market, while considering changes in the political and economic arena 
  • Prepare and present management with market research studies on demand
  • Develop and execute business development processes through indirect/direct influence
  • Attend Higher/Executive Education functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends to enhance EEC's offerings
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Operating Environment, Framework & Boundaries

Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Communications and Working Relationships

  • Executive Director - Daily contact to provide updates and receive guidance
  • Project Coordinator - Daily contact to assign and review tasks
  • External Clients (Public and private sector) - Frequently for business operations
  • Internal Stakeholders (HBKU Colleges and Research Centers, HBKU Communications, HBKU Human Resources, QF legal, and Education City branch campuses) -  Frequent contact to coordinate business operations.

  • Evaluates, compares and relates information from across the business
  • Identifies broader implications of proposed solutions across the organization
  • Uses own experience and evidence from theory, other industries and technologies to identify problems and understand situations
  • Reviews existing policy to enable effective problem solving and judgment by the team

  • Exhibits sound judgment to anticipate potential implications of all decisions; balances benefits and risks and identifies areas of uncertainty
  • Evaluates information by penetrating questions, thereby ensuring complete information is available to make an informed decision
  • Arrives at well-researched decisions that balance quality service and cost
  • Encourages and supports appropriate risk taking by subordinates when making decisions

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or other relevant field
  • 8-10 years of full-time work experience in business development for higher/executive education
  • Significant professional experience of human capital development planning and the creation of education and training strategies
  • Proven experience of generating revenue through the delivery of executive education programs
  • Financial acumen in understanding operations, financial modeling, and proposal development
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; able to build alliances/partnerships and influence key decision makers at all levels
  • Outstanding communication skills including strong creative writing and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and computer skills
  • Outstanding leadership and teamwork skills; able to work with and manage diverse groups, cultures, and communities
  • Excellent time management skills; able to set priorities, goals, and schedules to achieve strict deadlines
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications, and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
