The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) currently offers the largest selection of programs within the university and aspires to be a leading college committed to excellence in research and education with a major emphasis on interdisciplinary research and scholarship. It has established three divisions:

• Division of Sustainable Development: with an emphasis on sustainable energy, natural environment and built environment.
• Division of Information and Communications Technologies: with an emphasis on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, big data, networking and communication technologies, sensors, vision and computer graphics, and HCI.
• Division of Engineering Management and Decision Sciences: with an emphasis on logistics, supply chain management, sports and entertainment management.

Position

The College of Science and Engineering, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar (HBKU) seeks applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor in fields related to Sustainable Energy and Environment with a strong Science or Engineering focus to join the Division of Sustainable Development. Particular emphasis is for candidates with a background in one or more of the following areas: outdoor air quality and modelling; climate-change mitigation and CO2 sequestration/utilization; sustainable energy production and grid-integration, energy storage; transportation; agricultural science; water/wastewater engineering; upstream oil and gas engineering and downstream gas processing; coastal and marine protection; solid and hazardous waste management; remote sensing.

Faculty responsibilities will include teaching courses in the graduate programs, supervision of student research, conducting original scholarly research in related topics, and providing service to the university and the profession.

Required Qualifications & Skills for all faculty positions

• Ph.D. or terminal degree from an accredited university in a relevant discipline to the division programs of Sustainable Energy and Sustainable Environment
• Normally, five years of faculty level experience at an Assistant Professor or equivalent level with increasing professional maturity and productivity in research and teaching
• Evidence of proficiency in teaching, student supervision, and curriculum and program development
• Research and scholarly achievements judged competent and adequate for the rank of Associate Professor in comparison with peers active in the same field at major research universities
• Continued evidence of participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a university or other appropriate organization, or in an appropriate professional society or organization
• Ability to work with and lead diverse groups, cultures and communities
• Potential to develop networks and collaboration within HBKU, and with program partners and branch campuses in both teaching and research activities
• Arabic proficiency is an advantage
