HBKU hosts Founder of Travelocity and Kayak for a talk on innovation

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America in Doha, will be hosting Terry Jones – a world-renowned entrepreneur and speaker – on Tuesday April 25th for a lecture on innovation, digital relationships, and leadership in the wired age.  This is part of the Embassy’s speaker series, which brings out experts on various topics to Qatar.  The lecture, titled “The Importance of Innovation and Digital Relationships in an Entrepreneurial World,” will be delivered by Mr. Jones at the HBKU Student Center at 2pm. 

Mr. Jones, who is also a prolific writer, venture capitalist, innovator, and globally recognized speaker, is well known around the world for his many successful ventures, particularly for his pioneering work in the travel innovations industry. He is the founder of Travelocity.com, founding chairman of Kayak.com, and chairman of WayBlazer, all disruptive brands in the technology and travel sector. Through his authorship and numerous talks, Mr. Jones is seen as a thought-provoking leader in the field of innovation and digital relationships. 

By hosting Mr. Jones’ talk, HBKU is demonstrating its commitment to act as a regional hub for thought-leadership, being home and host to several renowned scholars, academics, and aspiring learners. 

Also next week, HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies will host a public lecture titled “The Prophet Muhammad as a Model for Approaching Diversity in the 21st Century” on April 23 that will take place at the college’s building within Education City. The talk will be delivered by Jonathan AC Brown from Georgetown University, who is a leading American scholar of Islamic studies and author. Through his lecture, Brown will explore how the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) provide guidance for how to manage diversity in a modern world that is dealing with recent surges in nationalism.
